IF ONLY PEOPLE IN THE 1970S TALKED ABOUT ESG
The concept of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) was not formally known back in the 1970s, but today it has evolved into a mainstream business consideration.
TIMELINE ON HOW ESG HAS EVOLVED
Year 1970s: ESG as a formal concept was not known.
Year 1980s: CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) started gaining traction.
Year 1990s: Companies started to address environmental impacts.
Year 2000s: Companies began to address both environment impacts and broader societal impacts.
Year 2010s: The rise of formal ESG frameworks
Year 2020s: Consumers, Businesses and Governments are now demanding more transparency, and buying decisions are partly influenced by ESG corporate effects.
Year 2025: There is a mandate for Non-Profit Organisations to report their ESG efforts. *************MICHAEL?!!!
