I actually think Technology Risk deserves to be its own pillar.

Most people—and even many organisations—confuse Technology RiskCyber RiskAI RiskInformation Risk, and Misinformation Risk. They overlap, but they are not the same.

Here's how I would write it for a future-facing website.


Technology Risk

1. What is Technology Risk?

Technology Risk is the uncertainty arising from an organisation's dependence on technology to achieve its objectives. It encompasses the risks associated with selecting, developing, implementing, operating, maintaining, and retiring technologies. Technology risk is broader than cybersecurity—it includes system failures, poor technology decisions, vendor dependency, technical debt, obsolete infrastructure, failed digital transformation, and the inability to keep pace with technological change. As organisations become increasingly digital, technology itself becomes both an enabler of growth and a source of strategic risk.

As technology evolves faster than ever, successful organisations will be those that treat Technology Risk not as an IT function, but as a strategic capability that enables innovation while managing uncertainty.
